Day 1

CMDR MostlyAwol — Personal Log

10–11 August 3312
Ship: Veritas Obscura — Corsair MA-10C

Entry 1 — Leaving NULL MIRIDIAN

Whanu AA-A h0

Started the session aboard NULL MIRIDIAN.

I was still in the Type-11 Prospector. I did not need a mining ship for the work I had planned, so I changed to Veritas Obscura.

The ship needed minor repairs. I also loaded four limpets before departure.

The carrier is currently in Whanu AA-A h0. The system contains a WO star and an O star. Both are large and easy to see from the carrier.

I completed a system scan before leaving.

After that, I left the carrier and started the survey route.

The main objective was simple. I wanted to check nearby systems that did not appear to have much exploration data.

Entry 2 — Whanu US-Z b2-0

Body B 1

Whanu US-Z b2-0 was not previously discovered.

The system contains two low-mass stars and several planets and moons.

I found biological signals on B 1 and landed.

The first useful sample was Stratum Tectonicas — Turquoise.

I completed the genetic sample set. This required several short flights between sample locations.

I also found Bacterium Cerbrus — Sage nearby. I recorded the organism but did not complete a full sample set.

This was the first surface survey of the session.

The system had enough unexplored bodies to justify a full scan, so I completed the survey before moving on.

Entry 3 — Whanu QF-X c2-0

Terraformable Water World

Whanu QF-X c2-0 contained one of the better discoveries of the session.

Body ABCD 1 is a previously undiscovered water world.

It is also a terraforming candidate.

The atmosphere is thick and argon-rich. The surface temperature is about 298 K.

I completed the detailed scan and recorded the planet.

I also took a picture.

There is no operational reason for the picture. I wanted one.

The system also contained gas giants, rings, moons, and geological signals.

I completed the useful survey work and continued the route.

Entry 4 — Whanu WG-V c3-2

Body 2

Whanu WG-V c3-2 2 had several biological signals.

I landed and started an exobiology survey.

I found and sampled:

  • Stratum Tectonicas — Lime
  • Bacterium Aurasus — Green
  • Tussock Albata — Green

I completed all three genetic sample sets.

The Tussock locations were spread out enough that I deployed the Scorpion.

The SRV made the search faster.

I returned the Scorpion to Veritas Obscura after the survey was complete.

This was the best biological survey of the session. Three complete samples came from one planet.

Entry 5 — Continued Whanu Survey

Whanu EG-L b10-0 to Whanu PW-V d2

I continued through several unexplored systems.

At Whanu EG-L b10-0 1, I found Bacterium Informem — Red.

The sample location was close to the north polar region.

I completed the genetic sample set after several landings.

I then continued into the Whanu PW-V d2 systems.

Whanu PW-V d2-0 contained several terraformable planets.

One of them was another previously undiscovered terraformable water world.

Whanu PW-V d2-3 also contained a previously undiscovered water world.

That planet was not terraformable.

I mapped it before leaving the system.

There were a large number of unexplored bodies in this part of the sector.

Most of the systems had no previous discovery records.

The survey was producing better results than expected.

Entry 6 — Whanu XZ-D b14-0

Body 6

The final stop was Whanu XZ-D b14-0.

Body 6 is a previously undiscovered high-metal-content planet.

It has a thin helium atmosphere and minor metallic magma volcanism.

The surface scanner detected three geological signal regions.

I mapped the planet with four probes.

I then landed Veritas Obscura on the surface.

Landing position was approximately:

Latitude: 5.35°
Longitude: 8.21°

I cleared the active navigation route after landing.

The ship was in good condition and I had enough fuel to continue.

I selected Pha Froa EG-Y g2 as the next possible destination.

Survey work for the day is complete.
