  • Make sure you dock your ship on one of the official Fleet Carriers to set a “respawn” point.
  • Turn in/sell all your data and discoveries
  • Head to the planet w/ an SRV
  • Land during the “safe” window
  • Deploy your SRV and remain in it
  • Dismiss your ship during the safe window
  • Enjoy the view
  • Recall your ship during the safe window.
  • Board your ship and skedaddle out of there

@CMDR Edstorm has made a remarkable tool, The Death Clock, based on the stellar work of @Solandri which will provide you with a visual representation of the “safe” window of time to land.
